A friend was talking about love or the lack of it and I guess this is what sort of came out

With You

With You, With me
Love won’t be a tragedy
With You, With me
I have faith to fight the seas
With You, With me
I can trust and believe
With You, With me

I’ve been wandering lonely
In the lonely rain
Lost in my own lonely hurts
Drenched in lonely pain
I’ve been wronged before
Of that I’m sure
I’ve been hurt I’m sure
But that was before

With You, With me
Love won’t be a tragedy
With You, With me
I have faith to fight the seas
With You, With me
I can trust and believe
With You, With me

So take a chance
step into the sea
don’t be afraid
In your heart just believe
You’ve been wronged before
Of that I’m sure
You’ve been hurt I’m sure
But that was before

With You, With me
Love won’t be a tragedy
With You, With me
I have faith to fight the seas
With You, With me
I can trust and believe
With You, With me

Step out, step out
Open the door
Don’t walk away
You’ve been that way before

I’ve been wandering lonely
In the lonely rain
Lost in my own lonely hurts
Drenched in lonely pain
I’ve been wronged before
of that I’m sure
I’ve been hurt I’m sure
But that was before

I’m going to
Step out, step out
Open the door
I can’t walk away
I’ve been that way before

With You, With me
Love won’t be a tragedy
With You, With me
I have faith to fight the seas
With You, With me
I can trust and believe
With You, With me

inspired by the beauty of creation

It’s beautiful to me

It’s beautiful to watch the sun sink in the west
It’s beautiful to see the morning sky alight overhead
It’s wonderful to know Christ always gives rest
It’s wonderful to know you created the paths I tread

When Your art is uncovered
Creation’s awesome curtain of majesty
When Your flag is unfurled
Clouds, sun, stars, moon, your tapestry

It’s beautiful to watch the waterfall splash into the sea
It’s beautiful to see the waves crashing down on the beach
It’s wonderful to know that by me you will always be
It’s wonderful to know that you are always within prayer’s reach

When Your grace I discovered
I knew there was no better place to be
When You my life recovered
I found forgiveness, love for even me

It’s beautiful to watch the eagle soar in the breeze
It’s beautiful to see the cardinal’s coat of red in winter’s hold
It’s wonderful to know that the chains are released
It’s wonderful to know life grows more precious as it unfolds

When Your creation it surrounds
Life moves and fills the universe’s expanse
When Your creation shouts it drowns
All my worldly cares and with creation I dance

It’s beautiful to watch the otter immersed in play
It’s beautiful to see the beaver industriously building
It’s wonderful to know there is a time to go and stay
It’s wonderful to know that I never need to be pretending

When Your brush strokes make
New wonders every second of every single day
When life’s treasure You give and take
I am speechless. I’m overwhelmed and amazed

It’s beautiful to watch the dolphin splash and leap in the waters
It’s beautiful to see the leaves brilliant hues as the season’s pass
It’s wonderful to know that your love forever and always endures
It’s wonderful to know that your love for man’s souls will always last

When Your grandeur in the end of all time is revealed
Every knee will bow every tongue proclaim "YOU ARE LORD"
When the trumpet sounds and the church You in Heaven seal
In perfection we’ll live and sing forevermore "YOU ARE LORD"

For a friend of mine.

I Miss You

By faith you stood
By faith you fought
By faith you could
By faith you taught

Morality never infringed its line
It was Christ alone for all of time
Perfection can never be obtained
This you taught and by it I gained

Not that I strive less than as of old
Yet now when I fail I don’t grow cold
My world seems so small imperfectly dim
And I wish I could see all our earthly ends

Yet what brought you to us
Took you away
In God alone I place trust
For each today

And though I may ponder
And some days I may wander
I know tomorrow is not longer
Earthly ties soon will be asunder

I hope to see you again
If I may
Way up in the glory of His
New day

My heart is intrinsically drawn to you
As willingly you gave of yourself to me
Not that you are perfect in all you do
But you tried and cared that’s my view

Though earthly bonds may continue to sever
Many here will always and still remember
I pray you God’s blessings in all of the trial
And that your life will not be just another file

God has granted and only God has given
To each his time and final appointment
Yet between now and then Faith stands calling
Get up in Christ, be doing don’t you be stalling

It’s true we only have
Just one trip around the sun
And as soon as it’s over
Our earthly lives will be done

Remember that your memory
Will always have a place
And I will cherish it tenderly
As I run this life’s race

I pray for the Mrs.
And the little ones too
Cause God has given you
A very special little crew

I know your love’s going
And I know you’re outpouring
Your life into the needs
Of students your seeds

Mr. Harmless I miss you
Mr. Harmless I wish you
Were nearer than far
And that the miles did not bar

I wish that and still too
Desire God’s will for you
I wish it wasn’t so very true
that you had too choose

Yet stay where you are
Because he wants you there
He needs you to prepare
A boy his life to fully share

You knew that you came
In Christ’s all-knowing purposeful plan
You had to leave for His aim
You did what was right once again

And although I miss you
The Kingdom is dominant
You came in Christ’s form
A man lowly a true servant

You showed what it meant to care
And that if you live you must dare
To go beyond the call and share
How you struggle and how you fare

Faith alone must be the stand
In Him in wisdom, majesty planned
The course of the whole universe
Who gives to all a blessing or curse

So stand up Mr. Harmless
And play the man
Don’t grow too restless
Be sure of His plan

How can I ever end
For I’ve only begun
To describe why I miss you
I hope where you are is true bliss for you

This is not all I can say
But God bless you and keep you
Until tomorrow becomes today
Until that day I’ll be praying for you

What If?

What if?

Some see life as a picture
Never really moving at all
Some see themselves in the middle
Standing up oh so tall

When my selfish mind paints me
As bigger than I am
That’s when I forget your mercy
That’s when I forget the promise of the lamb

You remind me with words to my heart
I am only by grace made a part

What if what I write
Doesn’t matter
What if what I sing
Doesn’t amount to anything
What if what I feel
isn’t real
And what if what I do
Isn’t always true

Lord lay me low in the dust
Leave me alone with the truth
I am nothing without you

Some only want the spotlight
Entranced by the fame of the world
Some think they’re always right
And cover up heaven’s perfect pearl

When I place myself in the view
I take away from His majesty
the wonder of the grace to me and you
His salvation though I’m unworthy

Remind us with words to our hearts
That we’re only by grace made a part

What if what we write
Doesn’t matter
What if what we sing
Doesn’t amount to anything
What if what we feel
isn’t real
And what if what we do
Isn’t always true

Lord lay us low in the dust
Leave us alone with the truth
We are nothing without you

What if what we write
Doesn’t matter
What if what we sing
Doesn’t amount to anything
What if what we feel
isn’t real
And what if what we do
Isn’t always true

Lord lay us low in the dust
Leave us alone with the truth
We are nothing without you

Ordinary Man (written for Amanda K., my lady)

It’s on those days when I feel ordinary
Those days when I can’t see
All the things I can’t put my finger on
But everything that I’d miss
If you were ever gone
Yeah it’s on those days
That I can’t help but realize
As I gaze into your eyes

I don’t want to be an average ordinary man
How can I feel ordinary when
I’m holding your hand
I don’t want to never ever take a chance
How can I not take chances
When you ask me to dance
I don’t want to be an average ordinary man
How can I feel ordinary when
I’m loved by an extraordinary woman

It’s when I can’t see why you love me
And what I do feels ordinary
That’s when I know I’m the lucky one
The one who’d be lost
If our love was ever done
Yeah it’s on those days
That I can’t help but realize
As I gaze into your eyes

I don’t want to be an average ordinary man
How can I feel ordinary when
You’re holding my hand
I don’t want to never ever take a chance
How can I not take chances
When you ask me to dance
I don’t want to be an average ordinary man
How can I feel ordinary when
I’m loved by an extraordinary woman

Life’s just too short
And love’s just too fragile
To not strive for the heaven’s above
I don’t have time to worry about you
I have time to give love
Love it can last
but only if I try
and we can dream of it
Or we can teach ourselves to fly

I don’t want to be an average ordinary man
How can I feel ordinary
When you’re holding my hand
I don’t want to never ever take a chance
How can I not take chances
When you ask me to dance
I don’t want to be an average ordinary man
How can I be ordinary when
I’m loved by an extraordinary woman

I want to be superman for you
I want to lasso the moon
I want to solve all your troubles
And catch each tear in my hand
Be up to my elbows in the dishes
move the furniture for the fortieth time
Yeah I want to learn to be
What you are to me
I want to learn to leave the ordinary
For the extraordinary that you are to me

I don’t want to be an average ordinary man
How can I feel ordinary
When you’re holding my hand
I don’t want to never ever take a chance
How can I not take chances
When you ask me to dance
I don’t want to be an average ordinary man
How can I feel ordinary when
I’m loved by an extraordinary woman
Come see what extraordinary’s done
Yeah I’m just the lucky one
Yeah I’m just the lucky one

Can You? written from the doubt that comes from sin

Can You?

Can you see me
I can’t hear you
Can you hear me
When I need you
Are you near me
I can’t feel you
Can you bear me
When I fail you
Will you deliver me
When I hurt you
Will you still love me
With nails in you

I am sin I am, me
I who truly crucified you
I think I can see
but don’t understand you
I can’t believe
Died for me, you?
I am sinful, me
Unworthy of anything
Can you see me
I can’t hear you
Can you hear me
When I need you
When you died for me
You in blood set me free
I believed that all I need
Is to know You love me
